Akin Kekere – Ekun
- Chairman
A renowned banker and technocrat, Mr.
Akin Kekere-Ekun has over three decades
of quality contribution to the financial
services industry. Mr. Kekere-Ekun is an
expert in relationship and portfolio
management, financial advisory and bank
management.
A fellow of Eisenhower Foundation, Mr.
Kekere-Ekun is a graduate of Oklahoma
State University where he graduated on
the dean’s list with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Bio-Science/Physiology
and Long Island University with a
Masters in Business Administration. He
is a vibrant contributor to national
financial issues.
He began his career as a lecturer before
moving into product marketing. He also
had a stint in Lagos State Broadcasting
Corporation, worked in stock broking
firm, before joining Habib Nigeria Bank
in 1983 and later rose to the position
of Managing Director/CEO.
Francis Atuche -
Director
A consummate banker of repute, Mr.
Francis Atuche had garnered seventeen
years of cognate banking experience
before assuming office in March 2000 as
the founding Managing Director/CEO of
Platinum Bank Limited, now Bank PHB.
He has extensive hands-on experience
from reputable institutions such as UBA
Plc; Chartered Bank; and Ecobank, in
areas as diverse as Credit and
Marketing; Branch
Development/Co-ordination; Branch
Management; and founding a leading
mortgage institution, Finacorp Building
Society.
An alumnus of both the prestigious IMD,
Laussane, Switzerland and the Lagos
Business School; a Fellow of the
Chartered Institute of Bankers of
Nigeria (CIBN); and Associate member of
the Institute of Chartered Accountants
of Nigeria (ICAN), Mr. Atuche, in
addition holds a Master of Science
Degree in Banking and Finance from the
University of Ibadan.
Charles Ojo -
Managing Director/CEO
He holds a B.Sc in Political Science
from the University of Ibadan and an MBA
from the University of Benin. He has
over 15 years of banking experience with
a strong background in Corporate and
Project Finance, Credit and Marketing.
Over 8 years of these have been in
leadership and management capacity.
Professor Fidelis
Oditah, QC, SAN - Director
Professor Fidelis Oditah is an
internationally celebrated
barrister-at-law and scholar. A Senior
Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Prof. Oditah
is a visiting professor of Law at the
University of Oxford. He specializes in
company and commercial law, banking and
finance, oil and gas, special projects
in energy and infrastructure, public law
and international commercial
arbitration.
He has in his kitty a bag of phenomenal
achievements beginning with a first
class honours degree in Law from the
University of Lagos in 1984, taking home
the highly coveted best graduating
student award. He repeated the same feat
at the Nigerian Law School the next year
where he qualified as a
barrister-at-law. As a Commonwealth
scholar in 1987, Prof. Oditah obtained a
Bachelor of Commercial Law Degree from
University of Oxford. Two years later,
he obtained a Masters of Arts and Doctor
of Philosophy from the same university.
Professor Oditah is a member of the
governing council of the London Court of
International Arbitration; member,
Chancery Bar Association; member,
International Bar Association; chairman,
the Law Institute of Nigeria; and member
of the advisory board of the Swiss
Permanent Organization of Arbitration.
Oditah has published three books and
numerous articles in internal journals.
According to the Chambers Guide of the
UK Legal Profession, “Fidelis Oditah has
a huge brain. What he doesn’t know
probably isn’t worth knowing.”
Emmanuel Abugu -
Director
Mr. Emmanuel Abugu, presently the Senior
Vice President / Divisional Director,
South in Bank PHB is a seasoned banker
with over 16 years of banking
experience. He started his banking
career in Zenith International Bank
Limited (now PLC) where he rose to the
position of Senior Manager/Head,
Corporate Banking – Energy Group.
He joined Bank PHB as an Assistant Vice
President in November 2001. His uncommon
flair for exceeding set targets as well
as his outstanding leadership qualities
were the factors that determined his
rise to the position of Divisional
Director South.
Trained as an accountant in Yaba College
of Technology, Mr. Abugu obtained his
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He
is also a Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN),
member, Nigeria Institute of Management
(AMNIM), Associate Member, Chartered
Institute of Taxation (ACIT), and an
Honorary Senior Member, Chartered
Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
He has attended several Management
courses in a number of prestigious
business schools which include Lagos
Business School (LBS), Institute of
Management Development (IMD) Switzerland
and Wharton School, University of
Pennsylvania, USA.
Ignatius Ukpaka -
Director
Ignatius Ukpaka is an accomplished
banker with requisite skills and proven
experience in areas as diverse as
Liability Generation, Credit Analysis,
Relationship Management, and Corporate
Banking. A first class honours graduate
of University of Lagos, Ignatius has in
his eighteen years’ professional career
recorded strings of firsts and
commendable accomplishments.
Starting his banking career at All
States Trust Bank Ltd, Ignatius Ukpaka
passed through Diamond Bank, which he
left in 1996 as Manager to join Zenith
Bank as Senior Manager and rose speedily
to General Manager in 2001 before bowing
out to Standard Trust Bank Plc in 2004.
Prior to joining Platinum Bank Plc,
Ignatius was the Managing Executive
Officer, East Bank of Standard Trust
Bank Plc (now UBA Plc). As Managing
Executive Officer, East Bank of Standard
Trust Bank Plc, Ignatius provided
exemplary leadership, which resulted in
the exceptional performance of the
Division.
A product of the Advanced Management
Programme (AMP) of the prestigious
INSEAD, France, Ignatius who is market
driven and goal oriented will bring his
resourcefulness and demonstrated
leadership skills to bear on our
thriving institution.
